Salt Forum – Canberra 2025
For over 130 years OAC Ministries in Australia has committed themselves to “sharing the good news in good ways”. We do this by sending staff and volunteers into the harvest, as well as partnering with Christian organizations and churches to equip believers for outreach and evangelism.
SALT is a new initiative of OAC in Canberra. This quarterly outreach and evangelism forum will be an opportunity to gather believers from all over Canberra who desire to stimulate their missional imagination and further develop their gospel fluency – that we may all be inspired and equipped to share the good news in good ways.
At every SALT forum, guests will hear from a small panel of experts – both academics and practitioners. The speakers will address a predetermined topic & set question about outreach and evangelism, they will then subsequently open themselves to questions from the audience. After the Q&A time, we will create space for people to connect over supper. An optional ‘equipping’ session will follow this supper break. The whole event will run for approximately three hours, once a quarter.

The “E” word
Premise: For many people today, evangelism is a dirty word. In the minds of many, the word carries bigoted and judgemental connotations. It seems that an increasing number of people, be they religious or not, are uncomfortable with the “E” word. Uncertainty regarding how to faithfully demonstrate and declare Jesus’ heart for humanity can result in followers of Jesus abandoning the idea all together – this is true even for those of us who are part of ‘evangelical’ churches. At our SALT Forum in March 2025 our panel of experts will be sharing their perspective on this issue by addressing the following questions:
For many today Evangelism has become dirty word…
- Why do you think this is the case? Or, do you disagree?
- What lessons can the Church learn from reflecting on the current cultural mood towards evangelism.
